Hungary hosts the most prestigious IT student competition, the 35th\u00a0
International IT Student Olympiad. The prestigious event, which will\u00a0
take place from 28 August to 4 September 2023, will attract around 1,000\u00a0participants from 90 countries around the world: 360 competitors, 180\u00a0team leaders and guests. The competition is organised by the Neumann\u00a0Technology Platform, the University of Szeged and TechEd Hungary Zrt.\u00a0with the support and professional guidance of the Ministry of Economic\u00a0Development. The main patron of the event is Katalin Nov\u00e1k, President of\u00a0the Republic of Hungary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is an annual\u00a0
international competition in informatics for secondary school students\u00a0from the participating countries, organised since 1989, with a variety\u00a0of cultural and leisure activities organised by the organising country.\u00a0The IOI is one of the major international science Olympiads and one of\u00a0the most prestigious IT competitions in the world. For the individual\u00a0competition, 4 participants per country can qualify in qualifying\u00a0competitions, except for the organising country, which can send 8\u00a0participants each year. Hungary has hosted the competition once before,\u00a0in 1996 in Veszpr\u00e9m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The venue for this year’s Student Olympiad is the Pick Arena in Szeged,\u00a0where 360 competitors will compete over two days in tasks such as\u00a0problem analysis, designing algorithms and data structures, and\u00a0programming and testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hungarian competitors have had great success at the Student Olympics\u00a0over the past decades, winning 13 gold, 37 silver and 47 bronze medals.\u00a0Among the gold medallists, Hungary was the absolute winner in 1992. In\u00a0addition, all Hungarian athletes have won medals in eleven Olympics so\u00a0far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
